SWEET REVOLUTION, 2019

One day I lay down on the street and listened on the ground. I feel safer than before. I sense a gap in the tight knitting of our social rules. -I feel free. - But I also feel exposed to the gaze of men who want to eat me. As a child, when I was afraid of monsters or later of men, I sang. But classical music is full of memories of women who were never recognized as composers, rather muse or decoration. Classical dance is full of memories of undernourished women, it took away their belly, feet and ground. Still, female beauty is defined by male dominance - reinforced daily by comments like the ones I heard when I laid down on the street: "close your legs bitch!" When I take off the social layers that protect me to avoid being noticed, I am free but vulnerable. When I throw nudity back as a provocation, as a weapon, as a question? Sweet Revolution draws the courageous attempt to gain freedom by bouncing out of the attributions, the identity clauses. It develops strategies to turn nudity into a strength.
